The 2005 Shiraz “Undercover” is opaque purple-colored. It reveals a nose of smoky oak, bacon, blueberry, blackberry, and a hint of chocolate. Medium to full-bodied, it has gobs of ripe, sweet fruit, soft tannins, and a long finish. Drink it over the next 8 years. It is a great value.
The Pertaringa Vineyard was planted in 1970 and subsequently purchased and expanded by Geoff Hardy and Ian Leask beginning in 1980. The vineyard now covers 77 acres, planted primarily to Shiraz with small plots of seven other varietals.
