2007 Rockburn Pinot Noir
Rockburn
A Pinot Noir Dry Red Table wine from
Otago, New Zealand
Wine Advocate Issue #176 Apr 2008 Neal Martin 90-91 Drink -
A barrel sample of the 2007 Pinot Noir shows great promise: luscious fruit on the nose with Doris plum and briery, a sense of minerality that I did not pick up on either 2006. The palate is medium-bodied, very supple and clean with a harmonious finish. Excellent.
Central Otago’s Rockburn was founded in 1991 by Richard Bunton and was branded “Hay’s Lake” until 2002, the renaming due to the expansion of vineyards and the desire to reflect their terroir. In 2005 they hired Malcolm Francis, assistant winemaker at Felton Road and the new winery in Cromwell was finished just in time for the 2006 harvest.
No known American importer.
